7 Comparison Guide: Azure Backup vs Commvault Cloud vs Veeam Security Azure Backup Azure Backup has useful security controls in place to protect your stored data. Most notable is its "so delete" feature. For example, if an Azure Backup user account is hacked and the a acker deletes a backup, Microso 's built-in protec ons do a so delete, which keeps the backup around for another seven days. This gives your organiza on me to iden fy and address the a ack so you can recover the data before it's permanently deleted. In addi on, because Azure automa cally backs up everything, you can easily validate that all your se ngs around compliance are in place and every resource is accounted for in the case of an audit. Commvault Cloud Commvault's cloud-na ve security focuses on protec ng cloud-based workloads and SaaS applica ons. Commvault Cloud features mul ple layers of security isola on and is virtually air-gapped so that only Commvault has access to backups — which helps reduce the risk of ransomware. Commvault Cloud also includes analy cs so ware that analyzes your systems for ransomware and malware vulnerabili es, removing the need for humans to constantly monitor for poten al security issues. Veeam Veeam provides secure backup and recovery through ransomware protec on, immutability, secure access, and encryp on. Veeam's mul -layered protec on — from threat detec on and proac ve threat hun ng to security analysis to monitoring for errors and anomalies — enables the solu on to keep its emphasis on fast recovery me and cyber resiliency. The Right Solu on Depends on Your Environment The most important thing to understand about backup solu ons is that there is no single solu on that works for every organiza on. Your par cular infrastructure will dictate the type of solu on you need. With your environment in mind, here's how to think about each of the three solu ons: Azure Backup Ideal for: Organiza ons that are already heavily invested in Azure, since Azure Backup is most efficient and cost-effec ve within its own ecosystem. It also requires minimal management, which is great for small- to medium-sized organiza ons that don't have a dedicated backup team in place to manage a large enterprise-level backup solu on. Not ideal for: Organiza ons without Azure infrastructure or that primarily use physical servers. In these scenarios, Azure Backup's cloud-centric features and efficiency diminish.
